A new casino just opened in Des Plaines, IL and was jam-packed with people. Shortly after it opened on Monday, it reached its’ 3,600 person capacity and officials had to ask visitors to consider delaying their visit.
This is the same state that recently tried (thankfully failed) to reverse their smoke free law that would have allowed smoking in casinos. The casinos said the smoke free law has hurt business. A new study shows that when adjusting for the economic conditions and recession, casinos did not lose business due to the smoke free law. The opening of this new casino will be further evidence that smoke free laws do not harm casino business.
